Now have a laptop that feels like brand new
Great guy! After cleaning my 2007 MacBook, it would not work anymore. I am pretty computer savvy and tested a few things myself (take RAM in and out, use a different hard drive, make sure all connections are firm), but nothing worked. I googled and found Zippin Pippin which is run by Paulo.
As I wanted to make sure the laptop is fixed the same day, I went there rather than using the free on-site repair. His office is in a not very promising looking building, but it is the insight that matters, or? ;) And there is a lot of knowledge inside. We talked for about an hour, and I was very impressed by his knowledge. He has been repairing Apple products since they were large bulky machines, and he prefers to repair rather than just replace some faulty part (which Apple does).
It turned out that my suspicion about the RAM was not wrong, both of my modules had failed because of corrosion. He replaced the modules, cleaned the interior and I now have a laptop that feels like brand new.
There is no other place in Cambridge where I would take my Apple products for maintenance. Paulo is very thorough and detailed as well as being customer and product oriented. It has been a while since I met someone like this.
